Slovenia to Host First Bitcoin Conference: NiceHashX

The leading hash rate marketplace NiceHash has announced that Slovenia's first-ever Bitcoin conference, NiceHashX, will take place this fall in Maribor. The event will be held on November 8th and 9th in the city where the platform was founded by two university students back in 2014.

One of the main goals of the conference is to establish Maribor, and Slovenia as a whole, as a Bitcoin hub. Currently, over 1,000 businesses in Slovenia accept BTC as a form of payment, and the event aims to showcase local companies that are actively utilizing Bitcoin technology.

"We are thrilled to show the world how Slovenia is leading the way in Bitcoin adoption in Europe," said Vladimir Hozjan, CEO of NiceHash. "With our decade of experience in the industry, we have witnessed phenomenal growth in interest in Bitcoin, both in Maribor and across the country. Join us in celebrating Bitcoin, which is used here by everyone from everyday people to prominent speakers."

Speakers and Programs

Attendees will have the chance to hear from notable speakers such as Saifedean Ammous, author of The Bitcoin Standard, Joe Hall (Nakamoto), former Cointelegraph reporter, Martin Kuchaƙ, CEO of BTC Prague Conference, Pierre Corbin, co-founder of Bitcoin FilmFest, and Jameson Lopp, CTO of CASA, among others. Topics will include European Bitcoin adoption and regulation, mining, and the future of exchanges in an increasingly regulated environment.

The conference will also feature an exciting expo, three main stages, and a range of side events, including an after-party with VIP dinner featuring DJ Claptone. NiceHash has also launched a BTC payment solution that will be available for attendees to try at the conference and in surrounding cities.

The venue for the conference is nestled in the Pohorje Mountains, offering a unique experience for both winter sports enthusiasts and wine lovers. Maribor's charm lies in its stunning architecture and cozy cafes, earning it the title of "European Capital of Culture" in 2012.

Slovenia ranks second among European countries in the number of blockchain startups, just behind Switzerland. The country also boasts a high per capita Bitcoin adoption rate, with landmarks such as BTC City in Ljubljana and the Satoshi Monument. Numerous businesses, including restaurants, hotels, cafes, and supermarkets, accept Bitcoin. The crypto community in Slovenia is expected to reach 385,700 users by 2028, accounting for 20% of the population.
